|
Robert N. Hackett, also known as Bobby, is a supporting antagonist in The Quarry. He was voiced and motion captured by Ethan Suplee.
Appearance[]
Bobby is a tall, burly man with a heavy, broad-shouldered build. He wears a red-white "Hackett's Quarry" baseball cap and denim overalls with one strap being unbuttoned. He also wore a pair of dog tags.
Personality[]
Despite his quiet and intimidating nature, Bobby has the mind of a child. He doesn't appear to be capable of comprehending that hurting people is wrong and will blindly follows his parents' orders.
The Quarry[]
Biography[]
Bobby is the youngest of the three Hackett sons. A pair of dog tags found in Chapter 10 reveal that he served in the military at some point in his life, presumably the U.S. Army or Marine Corps. Ever since his brother Chris, his niece Kaylee and his nephew Caleb were turned into werewolves in 2015, Bobby and his father have been going to hunt around the Hackett property each full moon, hoping to track down and kill Silas, in order to cure his family members of their curse.
Chapter 1[]
Bobby is seen covered in wolf blood and using his knife to hammer down a homemade sign saying "Hunting Season" while his father Jedediah annoyingly watches the camp counselors plan a party, remarking how this will complicate the situation.
Chapter 2[]
When Emma is raiding the general store for supplies in anticipation of the forthcoming party, Bobby is watching her through a window, although Emma does not take notice of him, either because he moves fast to avoid detection, or he coincidentally was passing by the store and got a glimpse of her through the window.
Chapter 3[]
At one point, Jacob may get caught in a snare trap. Bobby then appears, ordering Jacob to keep his body still. If Jacob does not resist or fidget, Bobby will release him from the trap and apply wolf blood to his head.
Chapter 5[]
TBA
Chapter 8[]
TBA
Chapter 9[]
Bobby is chasing a wounded Ryan throughout the house, he will eventually catchup to and corner Ryan, if Ryan stabs Bobby, he will be bemused and then walk off in irritation calling his dad, he will be too weak to fend off a werewolf Chris, who will then proceed to maul Bobby, Constance and Jedediah (if present), and Ryan if he fails to shoot Chris or shoots Laura instead. If Bobby is not stabbed, he will then pull the knife out of Ryan himself and talk to Travis via radio and is ultimately scared off by Laura before he could do anything to Ryan. At the end of the chapter he will fight a werewolf Chris and attempt to incapacitate Chris, which ultimately fails due to the strength and durability advantage werewolves have over humans.
Possible Deaths[]
Chapter | Cause of Death | Caused By | Conditions |
---|---|---|---|
9 | Throat Mauled | Chris (Werewolf) | Ryan stabbed Bobby. |
Killed Victims[]
Chapter | Method of Kill | Victim | Condition(s) |
---|---|---|---|
9 | Blood loss from abdomen stab wound | Ryan | Ryan refuses Laura’s bite; Ryan shoots Chris. |
Stabbed in the neck | Chapter 7 - Laura shoots Travis.
Chapter 9 - Ryan did not stab Bobby, Ryan shoots Chris and Travis. |
Abilities[]
- Immense Strength: Throughout the course of the game, Bobby is shown to be quite strong, as he was able to hold Jacob by the neck as well as Ryan with one hand seemingly with ease, both of whom are easily 100 pounds or more.
- High Pain Tolerance: Bobby is shown to be highly resistant to pain, given that he hardly reacted to Ryan stabbing him beyond minor irritation and childish bemusement.
Relationships[]
Jedediah[]
Jedediah is Bobby's father. The two appear to be very close to one another, likely on account of Bobby being heavily dependent on him, acting almost exclusively on his orders, whether directly or via radio. He will also call out for him if stabbed.
Travis[]
Travis is Bobby's oldest brother. They do not interact much, but are assumed to be on stable terms, as Bobby will try to save him when Chris attacks in his werewolf form. Bobby will also call out for Travis if he is spooked by Laura whilst confronting Ryan after their escape. Bobby also avenges Travis' death by killing Ryan (if Travis stabbed Laura to death and Ryan shot Travis dead).
Chris[]
Chris is Bobby's older brother. While they are never seen interacting with each other, it is safe to assume that Bobby, like the rest of the family, wishes to cure his condition. He will attempt to non-fatally incapacitate Chris when he attacks, even if he determinately killed his parents.
Quotes[]
- Bobby: "Whack-a-mole!"
- — Bobby, if he finds Nick, Abigail and Kaitlyn and the former fails to evade Bobby's attack
- Bobby: "He took my knife!"
- — Bobby, after stabbing Ryan and seeing him flee in the dumb waiter.

- Bobby: "Um... standing?"
- Travis: "No. Where are you, Bobby?"
- Bobby: "Oh, I'm in the old wing in that little room. You remember?"
- — Bobby communicating with Travis over the radio

Trivia[]
- Bobby is also inexplicably durable. He could survive a shotgun blast with no visible damage, though this could simply be a developer's oversight.
- Bobby owns a propeller beanie, which can be found in Chapter 8. Ryan mistakenly assumes it must be for a child but wonders why it is overlarge. Bobby is never seen wearing the beanie, instead wearing a trucker's hat which is more appropriate for a man of his age. It may be likely the beanie was meant for a costume party or like prank.
