The Cease & Desist Letter is a piece of evidence in The Quarry. It can be found by Laura in the Sheriff's Office during Chapter 7.

Overview[]

A letter instructing those behind the Bizarre Yet Bonafide podcast to stop investigating Hackett's Quarry.

Location[]

In the main police station lobby, across from Travis' office, the letter will be sitting on the printer.

Bizarre Yet Bonafide[]

If the Cease & Desist Letter was found, Grace and Anton discuss it in their episode of the Bizarre Yet Bonafide podcast during the Epilogue.

If all pieces of evidence were found, the Cease & Desist Letter will be the fifth piece discussed, following Kaylee's Letter and preceding the Empty Vial. Anton is shocked to find out about the letter, which was signed by Travis, but it was never sent through to them.

Grace: So, I don't think that's gonna be a problem for this next one.
Anton: Oh God, why? Holy shit, this is a cease and desist letter.
Grace: And it's addressed to us.
Anton: Dude. Why didn't you tell me about this?
Grace: Well, it was never actually sent!
Anton: That's mad shit fam!
Grace: What?!
Anton: Signed by Travis Hackett...
Grace: We're not doing anything illegal.
Anton: ... Aren't we?
Grace: Think about it.
Anton: I guess it wasn't technically sent to us.
Grace: Cease and desist letters come from people hiding stuff.
Anton: Hmmm... okay...

To Bizarre Yet Bonafide,

It has come to my attention that you recently released an episode of your podcast that features the town of North Kill and, more specifically, Hackett's Quarry.

If I am to understand the context correctly, said episode investigates the mystery of a ghost in the woods. Though the very idea of this is completely preposterous and (as I'm sure you're aware) no such thing exists, I am writing to tell you that the proprietors of Hackett's Quarry have expressed concerns that such unsavoury stories could be detrimental to their various business avenues - including Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp, which prides itself on being a safe, fun environment for children from all over the country.

It is with this in mind that I ask to you to take down this episode of your podcast and refrain from releasing any further unsolicited publicity around Hackett's Quarry - the proprietors of said land would not be against seeking legal action if you do not comply with their requests.

Please accept this letter as a formal request, with the benefit of both parties in mind.

Respectfully yours,
Travis Hackett - Sheriff
