The Belly of the Beast/Out for Blood is the eighth chapter of The Quarry.
00:45[]
Back at the poolhouse, Laura asks where Chris is, but Ryan refuses to answer, reasoning that she murdered Kaylee. After Laura retorts that they have been over this, Ryan can be Commanding or Uncertain.
- Commanding: he repeats his demand for Laura to shut up
- Uncertain: he asks Kaitlyn what he should do, causing Laura to sarcastically praise his leadership skills. Ryan then repeats his demand for Laura to shut up, before Kaitlyn says he is not getting involved in this, but tells him to think about everything that's happened tonight.
Ryan can then be Unconvinced or Curious
- Unconvinced: he retorts that he's not letting her kill Chris just because a poem said so
- Curious: he asks Laura if she really heard a woman's voice when they escaped. If Abigail is alive, she asks Kaitlyn if this is the ghost story that Ryan told the campers. Laura is then drawn to Abi's silver bracelet
Ryan can then be Suspicious or Aggressive
- Suspicious: Abi gives Laura her bracelet, and Laura puts it in her bullets, saying the bullets loaded with silver would kill the werewolves for good
- Aggressive: he threatens to shoot Laura
Laura then tells Ryan that if he is going to shoot her, to do it now. Ryan can then either pull the trigger or return the gun to her.
- If he pulls the trigger, they find that the gun was not loaded, causing Laura to angrily punch Ryan and retake the gun
- If he returns the gun, their interaction becomes more positive
Laura then asks the group where Chris lives when he's not at camp. Ryan can be Guarded or Mean
- Guarded: he asks why she thinks they would know that, to which she replies that they ought to know since they are counselors and were there for the last two months
- Mean: he says he won't tell her
Laura says Chris is not in the storm shelter and that she's not getting anywhere trying to hunt him in the woods, and so she needs a place to start. Kaitlyn points out a spooky house behind the woods. Ryan can then be Sarcastic or Compassionate
- Sarcastic: he asks Laura if she ever thought about not killing Chris
- Compassionate: he tells Laura that there could be another solution, but she replies that she spent the last month thinking and couldn't find an alternate solution
Laura tells him that herself, Max, and anyone else bitten by Chris is stuck until the next full moon, but Ryan asks her how that is their problem, causing Kaitlyn to bring up Nick, as he was bitten. Ryan then tells Laura he will accompany her, much to everyone's surprise and confusion. He can be Friendly or Aggressive in response.
- Friendly: he says that he will show her that Chris has nothing to do with this and that he wanted the counselors to stay inside and be safe, though Laura and Ryan then tell each other that they don't care what the other thinks
- Aggressive: he says that she shouldn't go alone
Laura then reluctantly agrees to let Ryan accompany her to kill Chris. Ryan asks Laura where the police car she stole is. When she replies that it is ditched in the lake, he is dismayed and he tells Kaitlyn and her group that they must try to fix the minivan in order to get somewhere safer. Ryan asks how long Laura has, to which she replies one or two hours and it doesn't seem like an exact science. The pair then take off.
01:30[]
Laura and Ryan are walking through the woods, heading to the Hackett house. Their conversation is dependent on their interaction from the previous section
- If Ryan pulled the trigger on Laura, she will call him a psychopath, as it is a big no-no to shoot someone at point blank with a sawed-off shotgun. He retorts that he did that because he was scared.
Laura asks Ryan if he is sure that they are going the right way and how well he knows Chris. He replies that when he first came to camp, he was dealing with some personal issues, which Chris helped him sort out. He emphasizes that Chris is a good person. Laura retorts that she can't let her conscience get in the way of her mission to end her and Max's werewolf infections.
The pair then stop, before noticing they are standing on some unstable planks, which collapse. They fall through the ground, landing in a small pond within a quarry. Laura hurriedly gets out of the pond, and Ryan notices her bitten arm is healed and no longer bloody, convincing him that her infection is advancing. He takes off her eyepatch, noting that her eye has regrown. She asks if he can see yellow in her eyes, causing him to reply hesitantly
The pair continue making their way to the Hackett house via the quarry.

1:35[]
Abi (if alive), Kaitlyn, and Dylan have returned the lodge, following the plan to fix the minivan.
If Kaitlyn failed to hide from Bobby, she comments about how she used to think the lodge was cozy and that it reminded her of a ski lodge. She then asks Dylan if he ever fantasized about being trapped on a ski resort with a broken cable car and the only source of warmth and food is other people (a reference to Until Dawn)
If Kaitlyn successfully hid from Bobby, Dylan notes that the inside of the lodge has been ransacked, to which Kaitlyn can be Dismissive or Honest.
- Dismissive: she says they should keep moving
- Honest: she admits that the ransacking was caused by her during her struggle against Bobby earlier in the game
If Abi is alive, she asks what they think happened to Jacob and Emma, to which Dylan replies hopefully nothing. After Abi suggests trying to find/help them, Kaitlyn says the most safest and most responsible thing is to try and get help
The counselors reach the outside of the lodge.
If Emma was killed in Chapter 4, Dylan opens the van door but sees it's still empty.
If Emma survived Chapter 4, the group is outside the lodge notices that the van is rattling and wonders if they should open the door. Kaitlyn calls out Jacob and Emma's names but gets no response. Dylan is invited to open the door at his own risk, and he slowly does so.
If Emma was not infected in Chapter 4, she blindly sprays Dylan with air freshener, causing him to freak out and yell that he got maced. After Kaitlyn calls out to Emma that it's just them, she also reassures Dylan that it was just air freshner. Emma apologizes and says that was all she could find in the van.
- If Dylan's hand was amputated, Emma will awkwardly comment about it, but Kaitlyn silently gestures her not to bring it up. Emma is then told the story of Laura and Max's imprisonment and escape.
If Emma was infected in Chapter 4, she is revealed to have become a werewolf and attacks the counselors.
If Abi is alive, she begins running for the storm shelter. Kaitlyn is then presented with a QTE to shoot werewolf Emma
- Failing it causes Emma to maul Abi to death before Abi can reach the storm shelter
- Succeeding it gives Abi enough time to run into the storm shelter and remain unharmed. Kaitlyn is then presented with another QTE to shoot werewolf Emma
- Succeeding it allows Dylan to remain uninfected
- Failing this causes Emma to lunge at Kaitlyn, but Dylan puts himself between them and is tackled.
- If Dylan is infected, Emma sniffs him but doesn't attack. Dylan then blocks Emma from attacking Kaitlyn, taking the gun and shooting Emma, scaring her away
- If Dylan is uninfected, Emma bites him and begins devouring him. Kaitlyn has another chance to shoot Emma
- Failing this causes werewolf Emma to maul Dylan to death
- Succeeding this allows Dylan to escape death, though he will become infected
If Abi is dead, Dylan gets into the van to protect himself. Emma bashes the front window, breaking it. Kaitlyn is then presented with a choice to Help or Run
- Run: she escapes, leaving Dylan to be mauled to death
- Help: she is presented with a QTE to shoot Emma
- Failing it results in the same path as if she chose to Run
- Succeeding it causes Emma to be hit, giving Dylan enough time to roll out of the van. Emma then jumps on top of the van and Kaitlyn can shoot her.
- Failing it causes Emma to approach Kaitlyn, but Dylan puts himself between them and is bitten on the arm. Kaitlyn is then presented with another QTE to shoot werewolf Emma
- Failing this causes werewolf Emma to maul Dylan to death
- Succeeding this allows Dylan to escape death, though he will remain infected
- Failing it causes Emma to approach Kaitlyn, but Dylan puts himself between them and is bitten on the arm. Kaitlyn is then presented with another QTE to shoot werewolf Emma
If Abi is alive and Kaitlyn successfully prevented Emma from attacking Dylan, Abi throws some silver shells to Kaitlyn, who can then decide what type of shell to use to shoot werewolf Emma.
- If she uses regular shells, she will hit werewolf Emma, scaring her off into the woods.
- If she uses silver shells, werewolf Emma will collapse behind some bushes. After the chapter, the camera shows a human Emma behind those bushes, dead.
Regardless of whether or not Emma was a werewolf, Kaitlyn finds that the minivan cannot be repaired without some extra parts. She notes that the Hackett scrapyard is nearby, and decides to go there. If Dylan is alive, he will accompany her while she tells Abi (if alive) and Emma (if not a werewolf) to stay in the storm shelter as it's safer there.
Deaths and Infections[]
Abigail[]
- If Kaitlyn fails the QTE to shoot werewolf Emma before Abigail has time to reach the storm shelter, she will have her throat ripped out, killing her in the process.
Dylan[]
- If Kaitlyn fails the first QTE to shoot werewolf Emma, Dylan will sacrifice himself and put himself into Emma's path, resulting in Dylan infected. If Kaitlyn continues to fail QTEs to shoot Emma, Dylan will be mauled to death.
Emma[]
- If Kaitlyn shoots werewolf Emma with silver, Emma will die.
01:44[]
Ryan and Laura wander into the basement of the Hackett House, and the door closes by itself behind them. Upstairs, Travis asks Constance what that noise was, but she just replies that it's nothing and that they have "guests" downstairs since they don't want any more blood on their hands.
Back in the basement, Laura and Ryan continue searching. As they walk towards a red-lit room, a QTE appears for Ryan to avoid slipping on some oil
- Succeeding it causes him to briefly slip, but he catches his balance as Laura warns him to be careful
- Failing it causes him to slip and fall over
They enter the basement.
- If Jacob is dead, Ryan notices how the cages are electrified, and wonders who they kept in the cage next to Nick's.
- If Jacob is alive, Ryan runs to him, asking him how he is. An interrupt prompt appears for Ryan to open the cage
- If it is not completed, Ryan is about to touch the cage, but Laura warns him that it's a bad idea since they are electrified.
Meanwhile, Constance questions Travis why he is in the house rather than outside with Jed and Bobby trying to keep the counselors safe. Travis then breaks the news of Kaylee's death caused by her being shot with silver, sending Constance into a fit of denial and rage.
- If Jacob is dead, Ryan comments out how it sounds like they are not happy about something upstairs
Back in the basement, they see a werewolf in an electrified cage, causing Laura to question whether it is Chris. She raises her gun at it, and Ryan can complete an interrupt prompt to stop her from shooting it.
- If he does not stop her, she will shoot werewolf Nick dead. The gunshot is heard by Travis and Constance. Travis sneaks up behind Laura and captures her, also calling out for Constance to send Bobby down. Regardless of whether or not Jacob is alive, the chapter ends if Nick is shot.
- If he stops her, Nick will be spared.
- If Jacob is dead, Constance will pull Laura up through the ceiling while Laura tells Ryan to run. However, he is later captured off-screen by Bobby.
- If Jacob is alive, he will be in the other cage. Jacob tells Ryan that he overhead the Hacketts saying they had two of them accounted for, and asks Ryan to let him out by opening the gates using the fuse breakers. Ryan is required to open Jacob's cage and the middle cage to help him escape.
- If Ryan refuses to help, gives up at any point during the puzzle, or doesn't open Jacob's gate, Jacob will be left in the cage, and expresses disappointment in Ryan.
- If Jacob is infected, he will remain safe
- If Jacob is uninfected, he will be doomed to be killed by werewolf Nick in the next chapter
- If Ryan agrees to help and...
- Ryan opens Jacob's gate and Nick's gate, Jacob will shake his head when Nick's gate is opened. He tells Ryan that he opened the wrong gates and orders him to close them. Ryan is too stunned to do anything, then...
- If Jacob is infected, he verbally taunts Nick, challenging him to a fight and saying he has already been bitten once and survived, but the werewolf ignores him
- If Jacob is uninfected, he increasingly panics as Nick approaches. The werewolf grabs him by the throat and mauls him to death. Jacob calls Ryan a "fucking idiot" with his dying breaths.
- Ryan opens the middle gate and Nick's gate, Jacob will shake his head when Nick's gate is opened. Ryan panics and calls out for Laura, who will kick the middle gate closed before Nick can escape
- Ryan opens the middle gate and Jacob's gate, Jacob expresses gratitude and successfully escapes into the woods.
- Ryan opens Jacob's gate and Nick's gate, Jacob will shake his head when Nick's gate is opened. He tells Ryan that he opened the wrong gates and orders him to close them. Ryan is too stunned to do anything, then...
- If Ryan refuses to help, gives up at any point during the puzzle, or doesn't open Jacob's gate, Jacob will be left in the cage, and expresses disappointment in Ryan.
Afterwards, Travis sneaks up behind Laura and captures her, also calling out for Constance to send Bobby down. Ryan then attempts to escape, but is later captured off-screen by Bobby.
