Errors

This is a list of all errors that the player can come across in The Quarry, overlooked by the developers and game testers.

Continuity

• After Kaitlyn fires her first shot during the shooting contest with Jacob and Nick, she cocks the gun twice before firing the next shot.
• In Chapter 3 in Abigail's segment, when Nick is attacked by a werewolf, she screams after Bobby's shot. However, in Ryan and Jacob's segments, Abi's scream is heard first, and then the shot.
• Kaitlyn can be splashed on the face with blood by Bobby if she fails QTEs in Chapter 5. However, after she leaves the lodge, she no longer has blood on her face, even though she never had a chance to clean it off.
• If Jacob is alone and infected whilst wearing Emma's bracelet, he doesn't react to it or even take it off.
• If Ryan doesn't release Jacob from his cage in the Hacketts' basement, Nick will kill Jacob even if he has werewolf blood on his face and/or is wearing Emma’s bracelet.
• During the underwater shot of Kaylee's corpse in the pool, her clothes are undamaged when they should've been ripped as a result of her transforming into a werewolf when wearing them.
• If Chris survives but Kaitlyn kills Caleb, Chris's end card will say that he is still infected, despite the fact that Caleb bit him. The same occurs with Emma if she was bitten by Caleb in Chapter 6, and with Max.
• If Emma is not present in the camera room, Abigail successfully passes the silver shells along to Kaitlyn, and Kaitlyn successfully shoots Caleb with them, Caleb's ending card in the Epilogue will erroneously state that Emma was the one to pass the silver shells to Kaitlyn.
• If Emma is bitten in Chapter 4, the interior of the minivan will still be clean in Chapter 8, when it should be covered in blood due to Emma transforming inside it.
• If Dylan was bitten by Emma in Chapter 8, and Emma was cured by killing Chris in Chapter 9, Dylan will still be infected in Chapter 10.
• If Emma is infected when reeling in the zipline and either falls on the rocks or fails to dodge Max’s claw, she’ll still die even if infected.
• In Chapter 2, if Nick shoots the bottles, Kaitlyn will shoot at nothing but animation of glass shattering will occur as if she were shooting bottles.
• If Max was cured by killing Chris in Chapter 9, he will always wear Laura's sportswear in Chapter 10, even if Emma didn't take his clothes in Chapter 4.
• If Dylan is present and Kaitlyn and Caleb get trapped in the freezer, he will have no end slide.
• If Ryan shoots Bobby, he has no visible wounds later on.
• If Laura fails to choose between helping or leaving Max in the Prologue, she remains in the basement with him as he's attacked by Chris, but Max will react as if she abandoned him during dialogue in Chapter 7. She also isn't sedated in this scenario, but will still recognise the syringe if she finds it.
• Sometimes, Dylan's death in the lodge in Chapter 10 will still result in his end card saying that he is alive. Notably, this will only happen if Kaitlyn waits for Caleb at the stairs and doesn't shoot and then decides to go out the window, but fails the QTE which causes her to be killed.
• When Kaylee and Emma are killed as werewolves, they immediately transform back, but when Nick and Chris are killed as werewolves, they do not immediately transform back.
• Emma can be bitten by two werewolves in the same playthrough, however if Chris killed, Emma will still be cured despite having also been bitten by Caleb - although this could simply mean that it is not possible for someone to have two concurrent infections.
• During Laura's initial confrontation with the Hackett family, Constance turns off the lights and is able to take Laura's gun by surprise. However, since Laura's werewolf infection was advanced enough for her to survive regular gunshots at point-blank range, she should've also been able to see in the dark.
• When discovering Eliza’s past through The Hierophant, she will claim to have helped the player even if the player refused her help at every opportunity.
• After Laura overhears Chris and Travis' conversation and deduces that Chris bit Max, she declares that she and Max will break out of prison "tomorrow" to kill Chris, and the next section of that chapter is their prison escape section. However, Chris and Travis' conversation took place on August 10, while Laura and Max's prison escape took place on August 22.
• If Jacob is shot by Ryan, his body is gone from the bushes when Emma explores in Chapter 6 but is back in the bushes in the end credits.
• If Kaitlyn is infected and doesn’t shoot Caleb when given the silver shells, Caleb will always spare her but if Dylan is there the game acts as if she’s dead.
• If Kaitlyn hides in the freezer and is released by an infected Dylan after Caleb spares him, the ending will label Dylan as “still infected” even if Silas is killed.
• When viewing paths in the menu, the names of characters featured in the path are seen on the bottom of some of the VHS designs. However, some characters are incorrectly named - for example 'Dylan Leviny' when it should be Dylan Lenivy, 'Nicolas Furcillo' when he is referred to as Nicholas in a few subtitles, and 'Ryan Ezraler' when he is known as Ryan Erzahler.
• The werewolf infection is only spread when transformed werewolves bite humans, yet an infected (but still human) Laura is able to pass the infection to Ryan via bite.

Factual Errors

• According to the Hackett Family Tree, Caleb was born in 1995 and Kaylee in 1999, which makes them 26 and 22 years old during the game and 20 and 16 years old during the fire, respectively. However, Dylan calls them "weird kids", Chris refers to them as teenagers while talking with Ryan, and Kaylee in her letter says she and Caleb were just kids during the fire, despite Caleb being 20 at the time if the birth years are accurate.
• The Ticket Stub for the Harum Scarum show is dated October 27, 2015, meaning this must be the day that Caleb and Kaylee started the fire to free Silas. However, a North Kill Gazette newspaper dated August 15, 2015 reports that the Harum Scarum fire occurred "yesterday", meaning that the tragedy happened on August 14.
• On the Hackett family tree, Caleb has the Male symbol beneath his name, but is listed as "Greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat Granddaughter".

Visual Errors

A vlog of Emma vlogging (notice the phone symbols in the upper right as well as Emma's phone being visible)

• While at the dock in Chapter 3, Jacob grabs his shirt and gestures as if he's removing it over his head, but his shirt remains on his body. After the camera cuts to Emma and back to him, his shirt has disappeared.
• If she reels in the zipline quickly and then continues reeling instead of jumping in Chapter 4, Emma will be infected by Max even though there is no scene of him biting her.
• If Emma was killed by Max at the treehouse, her corpse will appear completely unharmed and clean in Chapter 10 and during the Epilogue, despite her violent manner of death and Max still being soaked in her blood.
• While on the Island Emma has tied her hair up into a bun but when Max stumbles upon her dead body in Chapter 10, Emma's hairstyle is perfectly back to a ponytail and remains that way even in the epilogue. Update Version 1.05 fixed this error.
• While running away from Bobby in Chapter 5, Kaitlyn is carrying a shotgun behind her back, yet when she decides to confront him, the shotgun is immediately in her hands.
• If Ryan cuts off Dylan's hand, Dylan will look at his arm in horror while his right hand grips the empty space where his hand would be.
• On certain paths during Laura and Max's escape in Chapter 7, Travis' keys appear to be floating.
• During Chapter 8, when Laura asks Ryan to check her eyes to see if they are yellow, they are, but as soon as that scene cuts to gameplay, Laura's eyes return to their regular color.
• If Ryan decides against pulling out the knife after Bobby stabs him, his right arm will sometimes clip through the knife's handle if the player makes him look all the way to the left.
• If Ryan successfully evades Bobby by hiding, he will appear to open the door out to the catwalk twice.
• If Ryan immediately pulled out the knife, Bobby will catch up to him and point out that he's losing a lot of blood, as evident by a large blood pool on the ground. Just before the scene cuts to Laura scaring off Bobby, the blood pool will disappear.
• Ryan shoots off part of Chris's head in Chapter 9, yet in the Epilogue his head is intact.
• If werewolf Laura is killed by Ryan during the werewolf ambush in the Hackett house, her hat will be on her corpse in the Epilogue even though she was not wearing her hat in the latter half of the game.
• Max doesn't have a proper walking animation when he moves down the stairs on the dock in Chapter 10.
• If Max and Laura reunite on the island and every other counselor is dead, after the cutscene of them reuniting it will show Max lying dead on the dock as if he was killed by Caleb after swimming to shore.
• If Kaitlyn and Dylan are both bitten by Silas at the scrapyard, only Kaitlyn will have yellow eyes and dark veins when Caleb attacks the lodge in Chapter 10, while Dylan's appearance will remain unchanged despite them being bitten at the same time.
• Should Kaitlyn be infected in Chapter 10 and fall off the beam in the loge via missing both QTE's, there will be a splatter of blood when she lands. However, it disappears as she starts sitting up.
• When an uninfected Kaitlyn and Caleb both end up in the freezer and Caleb kills Kaitlyn but survives due to his infection, Kaitlyn's corpse will disappear during the Epilogue.
• If Caleb was shot by Kaitlyn, his eyelashes can turn yellow in the Epilogue.
• If Emma was infected in Chapter 6, she will vlog herself as she nears her transformation. The camera shot appears as if it's a phone recording, but then the shot switches to where both Emma and her phone are visible, making it appear as if someone is vlogging Emma vlogging herself.
• If Jacob and Emma meet in Chapter 10 when Jacob is infected and Emma's infection is cured, Jacob gains jeans when he transforms into a werewolf.
• In Chapter 10, after the car ride, Laura's hairstyle jumps from shoulder-length to an asymmetrical bob and back again multiple times between camera shots until the end of the chapter, and can even be seen switching between the two as her, Ryan and Travis find the remains of the sideshow.

Glitches/Bugs

A floating wig berates Travis

• There is a glitch where during Constance's berating of Travis following Kaylee's death, all but her hair is gone to the point that it appears that her hair is floating in midair.
• When loading a Chapter 3 save at the beginning of the scene where Ryan chases after Nick, Ryan may appear to have two shotguns when navigating the forest. He will be holding a shotgun with one hand and have a shotgun around his back.
• During scene changes, occasionally dialogue can start before the scene does. This means that opening dialogue will begin several lines in, before correcting itself and 'stuttering' a moment later.
  • This is most notable in Chapter 7 while Laura is telling her story about what happened to her and Max.
• When loading a Chapter 9 save at the beginning of the scene where Laura, Travis, and Ryan talk after killing Chris, and Ryan was not bit by Laura, the models of Bobby and Ryan can appear in a default pose next to Laura when aiming the shotgun at Travis.
• If Max is cured of his werewolf infection by killing Caleb and Chris is still alive, his ending slide is skipped.
• In some instances, Jacob's corpse will briefly move as his ending slide is being shown. The most notable instances of this is when he is shot by Ryan in the bushes or mauled by werewolf Nick in the Hackett basement.

Dialogue/Subtitle Errors

• Peanut Butter Butterpops are spelt as such (with Butterpops as one word) on the packet shown, yet in the subtitles the name of the snack switches between that spelling and Peanut Butter Butter Pops (with Butterpops as two words).
• Bizarre Yet Bonafide is spelt as such (with Bonafide as one word), yet when Ryan tells Dylan about the podcast in Chapter 2, the subtitles spell out the title as Bizarre Yet Bona Fide (with Bona Fide as two words).
• If Ryan eavesdrops on Chris in Chapter 1, he can hear Jedediah say "if he is in the area, we'll get him" but the subtitles say "if he isn't here, we'll get him".
• If Dylan flirts with Ryan with the phone, after Eliza says his name he will say "Hello? What?", however there is no subtitle for that.
• In Chapter 5, when Silas jumps onto the roof of the radio hut, Ryan will say "I don't think bears can jump like that" but the subtitles say "Bears can't jump like that"
• In Chapter 7, if Laura says that she believes Travis, Max will say "You can't tell me you really trust that guy now?" but the subtitles will say "You can't tell me you really trust that guy?"
• In Chapter 8, when Laura is talking with Ryan in the pool house, she will say "If I can't find Chris Hackett..." but the subtitles will say "And if I can't find Chris Hackett..."
• In Chapter 8, when Emma sprays Dylan in the eyes and begins to apologize, she says "I didn't know it was you, I was really scared and I thought- " but there are no subtitles for this phrase.
• In Chapter 8, when Constance berates Travis for Kaylee's death, she says "So you- you had, those motherfucking counselors in your goddamn jail for two whole motherfucking months right, and you tellin' me now...", but the subtitles are written without "right".
• In Chapter 8, when Ryan is talking to Jacob locked in the cages, Ryan will ask "Did you get bitten?" but the subtitles will say "Have you been bitten?"
• When in the scrapyard if Dylan asks to take the gun to the crane part of Kaitlyn's dialogue is "I'll take them out" but it's subtitled as "I'll shoot them" instead.
• If Travis stabs Laura to death after she turns into a human, when Ryan chooses "Aggressive" the line "You crocked ass cop piece of shit" will be subtitled as "You crooked ass cop piece of shit"
• If Ryan dies of blood loss and Laura and Travis survived the werewolf ambush, Laura's line of "Oh my God, Ryan" will be subtitled as Ryan begins to collapse even though Laura isn't speaking. The subtitle will then disappear as she says the line afterwards.
• If Travis stabs werewolf Laura with the silver-backed mirror shard, there are subtitles stating "Oh, no! No!" as he is stabbing her, but nobody is heard saying those lines.
• If Laura refuses to raise her gun to shoot Silas and succeeds the QTE to avoid Travis grabbing her gun, then chooses to shoot Travis, Travis's ending card says that he was killed accidentally as if Laura failed the QTE.
